Madi JattaThe Gambia’s former Secretary General and deputy minister for Presidential Affairs has been sacked as the deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology.

The exact reasons for Madi Jatta’s sacking are not known. Our sources said Madi Jatta “has questions to answer with the authorities.”

It has been a downward spiral for Madi since his fall from grace on 9th January, 2013. Gambia’s shortest lived Secretary General who is branded “super kanja mouth” (one who cannot keep secrets) across most of the online media was first demoted to permanent secretary ministry of Foreign Affairs before slipping further down to deputy permanent secretary ministry of Higher Education, a position he held until his sacking. Barely three months ago, Mr Jatta told a friend that he was going to “bounce back” as SG because the president has asked someone to enquire whether Madi is a ” true Jola”.

Sources in Banjul say his sacking came as a total surprise. As we speak now, Madi is jobless and spends most of his time loitering in his native Gunjur, a source said. “He will unlikely get genuine remorse on the streets of Gunjur because most people have not forgiven him for rejoicing over the wrongful sacking of former Lands minister, Aki Bayo by blaring his car horn through the town”, our source pointed out.

Apparently, Madi has spent a long enough time at education to muster the experience needed to thrive well in many other departments to match the MA in Human Resources he claims to have.
