Mr Lamin Jobe, Coordinator of West Africa Agricultural Production Productivity (WAAPP) has recently been arrested by the Serious Crime Unit of the Gambia police force, according to credible reports reaching Kibaaro News desk.
Mr Jobe is alleged of stealing two thousand bags of fertilizers, which he is accused of handing to someone, named unknown to our sources at the time of going to press, the person is however said to have fled the country.
According to sources within the Police Department, Mr Jobe has already been charged with theft of the fertilizers and will appear in court on Monday, December 15th to enter his plea.
Mr Jobe had been working with National Agricultural Research Institute (NARI) as research coordinator for more than a decade and was recently appointed as WAAPP coordinator by Gambia’s Dictator, Yahya Jammeh. He has now fallen into the hands of the Gambian security apparatus.
He is still detained at the Police Headquarters in Banjul, by the time of going to press, and the Police spokesman could not be reached for comments.
